Compassionate, Personalized Psychiatric Care
Depression can affect every part of your life—from your energy and motivation to your relationships, work performance, and overall well-being. While everyone experiences occasional sadness or stress, persistent symptoms of depression can make even everyday tasks feel overwhelming. If you’re struggling with an ongoing low mood, loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed, changes in sleep or appetite, or difficulty concentrating, professional psychiatric care can help.
At Blue Sky Psychiatry, we provide evidence-based medication management for depression in Los Angeles, CA, helping adults, adolescents, and children receive individualized treatment designed around their unique needs and goals. Our experienced psychiatric team understands that no two people experience depression the same way. That’s why every treatment plan begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and continues with thoughtful medication management, regular follow-up appointments, and ongoing monitoring to help you achieve meaningful, lasting improvement.
Our approach goes beyond simply prescribing medication. We carefully evaluate your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, treatment preferences, and any co-occurring mental health conditions before recommending a plan of care. Whether you’re taking antidepressant medication for the first time, adjusting an existing prescription, or looking for a second opinion regarding your current treatment, we provide collaborative, compassionate care every step of the way.
Blue Sky Psychiatry proudly serves patients throughout Los Angeles from our office on Santa Monica Boulevard while also offering secure telepsychiatry appointments across California for greater convenience and accessibility. Our team provides comprehensive psychiatric services, including medication management, psychotherapy, child and adolescent psychiatry, couples therapy, and family therapy, allowing patients to receive coordinated mental health care under one trusted practice.

Living with depression can feel isolating, but you don’t have to face it alone. Millions of people experience depression each year, yet many delay seeking treatment because they aren’t sure whether medication is appropriate or they worry about what treatment may involve. At Blue Sky Psychiatry, we believe that education, collaboration, and individualized care help patients feel empowered throughout their mental health journey.
Medication management is far more than receiving a prescription. It is an ongoing partnership between you and your psychiatric provider focused on finding the safest and most effective treatment while continually monitoring your progress. Our clinicians work closely with each patient to understand not only their symptoms but also how depression affects their daily routines, relationships, career, school performance, physical health, and overall quality of life.
Depression presents differently from person to person. Some individuals experience overwhelming sadness and hopelessness, while others struggle with persistent fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating, or a loss of motivation. Many patients also experience physical symptoms such as headaches, disrupted sleep, appetite changes, or unexplained aches and pains. Because symptoms vary significantly, successful treatment requires an individualized approach rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.
During your initial psychiatric evaluation, we’ll take time to understand:
This comprehensive assessment helps us develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs. When medication is appropriate, we explain how it works, what benefits you may expect, potential side effects, and realistic timelines for improvement. We encourage questions and believe that informed patients are better equipped to participate actively in their care.
Medication management doesn’t end after your first appointment. Depression treatment often requires ongoing monitoring and thoughtful adjustments as your symptoms improve or your needs change. Follow-up visits allow us to evaluate how you’re responding, address side effects, adjust dosages when appropriate, and ensure your treatment continues supporting your long-term wellness.
Many individuals with depression also experience other mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, insomnia, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or bipolar spectrum disorders. Because our team provides comprehensive psychiatric care, we carefully evaluate the full clinical picture to ensure your treatment plan addresses all contributing factors rather than focusing on a single diagnosis.
For many patients, combining medication management with psychotherapy provides the most effective path toward recovery. When appropriate, we coordinate treatment with therapists and other healthcare providers to ensure your care remains integrated, consistent, and focused on helping you achieve lasting emotional stability.
Our goal isn’t simply reducing symptoms—it’s helping you regain confidence, improve daily functioning, strengthen relationships, return to activities you enjoy, and build a healthier future. Whether you’ve recently been diagnosed with depression or have been managing symptoms for years, Blue Sky Psychiatry provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care designed around your unique circumstances.

At Blue Sky Psychiatry, we understand that seeking help can feel overwhelming, especially when depression has affected your motivation or hope. That’s why we focus on creating a welcoming, supportive environment where patients can openly discuss their experiences without judgment. At Blue Sky Psychiatry, medication management is a dynamic, collaborative process designed to help patients achieve meaningful improvement while minimizing unwanted side effects. We understand that finding the right medication is rarely as simple as writing a prescription. Every individual responds differently to treatment, which is why our psychiatric providers carefully monitor progress and make thoughtful adjustments based on your symptoms, goals, and overall well-being.
Our evidence-based approach begins with a thorough understanding of your mental and physical health. During your evaluation, we consider factors such as previous medications, medical conditions, family history, current stressors, lifestyle, and any co-occurring mental health concerns. This comprehensive assessment allows us to recommend treatment options that align with your unique needs.
Our medication management services for depression include:
Every treatment journey begins with a detailed psychiatric evaluation. We take the time to understand not only your current symptoms but also how depression affects your work, education, relationships, sleep, and daily life. This evaluation helps us establish an accurate diagnosis and determine whether medication may be beneficial as part of your treatment plan.
No single antidepressant works for everyone. We carefully evaluate which medication may be most appropriate based on your symptoms, medical history, age, previous treatment experiences, and personal preferences. Whenever possible, we involve you in every treatment decision so you understand why a particular medication is recommended.
Medication management doesn’t stop after your prescription is written. Regular follow-up appointments allow us to monitor your progress, discuss improvements, address concerns, and make adjustments when necessary. Our goal is to maximize symptom relief while minimizing side effects and ensuring your treatment continues to meet your changing needs.
Depression often occurs alongside other mental health conditions. Our team provides comprehensive psychiatric care for patients experiencing:
Treating the full clinical picture often leads to better long-term outcomes than focusing on depression alone.
Depression affects people differently throughout life. Blue Sky Psychiatry provides age-appropriate psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. Treatment plans are carefully adapted to developmental needs while emphasizing collaboration with patients and families whenever appropriate.
For younger patients, we work closely with parents and guardians to ensure treatment decisions are well understood and individualized. Medication is recommended thoughtfully and often alongside therapy, school support, and family involvement.
Medication is often one part of a broader treatment strategy. When clinically appropriate, we coordinate care with therapists, primary care physicians, family members, and other healthcare providers to create a more comprehensive approach. This collaboration helps ensure every aspect of your mental health care works together toward the same goal.

Depression affects far more than mood alone. It can interfere with nearly every aspect of daily life, often making work, school, relationships, and even basic self-care feel increasingly difficult. Our providers help patients manage a wide range of symptoms through individualized medication management and ongoing psychiatric care.
Common concerns we help address include:
Feeling down occasionally is part of life, but persistent sadness lasting weeks or months may indicate clinical depression. Medication management can help reduce the severity of these symptoms while improving emotional stability.
Many patients describe losing interest in hobbies, social events, work, or activities they once enjoyed. Our treatment plans aim to restore motivation and improve engagement with everyday life.
Depression often causes overwhelming exhaustion that isn’t relieved by rest. Medication management may help improve energy levels, allowing patients to participate more fully in work, school, and personal activities.
Problems with focus, memory, and decision-making are common symptoms of depression. Through careful treatment planning, many patients experience improved concentration and cognitive functioning over time.
Whether you’re sleeping too much, struggling with insomnia, or waking frequently throughout the night, disrupted sleep can worsen depression. We evaluate sleep patterns as part of every treatment plan.
Depression may lead to increased or decreased appetite, resulting in noticeable weight changes. Addressing these symptoms is an important part of comprehensive psychiatric care.
Many individuals experience depression alongside anxiety disorders. Because these conditions often overlap, we evaluate both carefully to ensure your treatment plan addresses your complete mental health needs.
Blue Sky Psychiatry is committed to providing thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care for every patient we serve. Our mission is to help individuals throughout Los Angeles find effective treatment options that promote long-term stability, improved functioning, and greater confidence in daily life.
We understand that beginning psychiatric treatment can feel intimidating. Many patients have concerns about medication, previous negative experiences, or uncertainty about where to begin. Our providers take time to answer questions, explain treatment options clearly, and ensure every patient feels informed throughout the decision-making process.
Because depression often changes over time, medication management is never static. We continually monitor your progress, celebrate improvements, and adjust treatment whenever needed to support your evolving goals.
Whether you’re experiencing your first depressive episode or have been managing depression for many years, our team is here to provide compassionate guidance grounded in evidence-based psychiatric care.

If your medication doesn’t seem to be helping—or if you’ve started experiencing unwanted side effects—it’s important not to stop taking it without speaking to your psychiatric provider.
Instead, consider these steps:
Finding the right medication sometimes takes patience. Many antidepressants require several weeks before their full benefits become noticeable, and dosage adjustments or medication changes may be necessary along the way.
At Blue Sky Psychiatry, we remain committed to working alongside you throughout this process. Our goal is to help you find a treatment plan that not only reduces symptoms but also supports your overall health, resilience, and quality of life.
Dr Mindy I have known for over a decade and her continuous care and professionalism is outstanding. Many times I came to see her feeling like I am at the end of my rope and she ALWAYS has an answer of how we can make things work with a different medication, a different solution and never gives up. I owe her so much for without these medications and her confidence and care I wouldn't be able to function and I am functioning very well now. Even though she moved out of town I still see her through Telehealth as she truly is the BEST!
Dr Mindy was a life saver for my son and our family. She was so attentive and compaSsionate. I felt like she put her heart and sole into treating my son. She is so up to date on the newest medications and techniques in psychiatry. She carefully listens and gained my sons trust and ours. I have sent several other friends and family members to her and they all had the same experience. A++++
Dr. Mindy Werner-Crohn was a lifesaver. Not only is she most knowledgeable about the latest advances in psychopharmaceuticals and medical advances in psychiatry and psychology, she is also up to date on other treatments to help in a variety of situations. I found her honest, straightforward, and accessible as well as very friendly and helpful. She even went to bat for me when I had an issue with my insurance company. Her staff is professional and goes above and beyond what would be required to make any patient feel welcomed and well taken care of. I cannot recommend Dr. Werner-Crohn highly enough!
Dr. Mindy has been tremendously helpful to our son first, and then to me, as I became a patient as well. Yes, she is expensive, but there are few things that are worth more than getting the best advice you can from an expert in the mental health field who is truly brilliant in so many ways. After seeing other psychiatrists, and getting a variety of diagnoses and mediocre advice, Dr. Mindy was able to very quickly help our son by seeing what his issues were and getting him on the proper medication which has actually helped him to feel better and function better in school and in general. She cares about her patients, listens to them, and advises them not only on mental health but also has given us advice about other areas such as when and where to get tutoring help and deciding when he is ready for independence like staying home alone and going to summer camp. She has even given us referrals regarding concerns about his nutrition and growth. If you are trying to navigate any mental health issues and getting overwhelmed by a lot of questionable advice, I highly recommend you go to see Dr. Mindy!
Dr Mindy Warner Crohn is the most magnificent, spectacular, caring psychiatrist I have ever had the pleasure to work with. 10 years ago I was diagnosed bipolar. I will now be 63 this Saturday. It's been a 10 years of up-and-down of different medications and therapy. She never gave up. She was always my cheerleader. She is brilliant. She now practices up in Oakland, but I have worked with her for the last 7 years or so,since Covid via Zoom. I could have my dates askew; but the important thing is I am doing well and I owe it all to her. In addition, she set me up with a wonderful therapist Dr. Tracy Rosberg. Together they have really helped turn my life around. God bless them both.
I am a client of Shira Crohn's and l can't recommend her enough! She is a thoughtful, compassionate and highly skilled practitioner. I have benefitted enormously from her guidance and care. If you want someone who will engage you and guide you in your journey, then Shira will partner with you to do just that.
Shira is the best psychiatrist I've ever worked with. She is empathetic and kind, but not a dunce or a pushover either. We've talked about various aspects of my treatment, and she has worked with me to find the right combination that works (which we did!) She's just good people, not there to cram as many appointments in as possible, just to run off to golf or something. I couldn't recommend her more highly.
Medication management is an ongoing psychiatric service that involves evaluating your symptoms, prescribing medication when appropriate, monitoring your progress, and adjusting treatment over time. At Blue Sky Psychiatry, medication management is personalized to help reduce symptoms, improve daily functioning, and support your long-term mental health goals.
Medication may be recommended if depression significantly affects your work, school, relationships, sleep, or overall quality of life. During your psychiatric evaluation, your provider will discuss your symptoms, medical history, previous treatments, and personal preferences before recommending the most appropriate treatment plan. Not everyone with depression requires medication, and treatment decisions are always individualized.
Many antidepressants begin producing noticeable improvements within several weeks, although the timeline varies from person to person. Some patients experience gradual improvements in sleep, energy, or concentration before mood changes become more noticeable. Your provider will closely monitor your progress and make adjustments if needed.
Not necessarily. The length of treatment depends on several factors, including the severity of your depression, your treatment history, your overall health, and how well your symptoms respond. Some individuals benefit from shorter courses of medication, while others may require longer-term management. Your provider will regularly review your treatment plan with you.
Many medications have potential side effects, but they often improve as your body adjusts. If side effects become bothersome or interfere with daily life, don't stop taking your medication without consulting your provider. We can discuss dosage adjustments, alternative medications, or other treatment options that may better meet your needs.
